Here’s a little update on foster cats Monkey and Gypsy.
Apologies for the photo – I had to close the door quickly, as Monkey is still wary of humans. His progress is slow but steady, and it’s important that everything is done entirely at their pace.
Recently, I’ve started opening their doors again. I’ve tried before, but Monkey in particular wasn’t ready. This time, we’re taking it slowly, and it’s going better.
They can now both access each other’s space, and Monkey has ventured into the catio with Gypsy. There’s not an aggressive bone in his body towards her – it really does seem like he remembers her from their past life, even with all the new smells and surroundings.
The introductions were slow and gentle. At first, only Monkey’s door was open, while Gypsy stayed safely in her catio. They would call to each other, crying softly through the barrier. When I saw Gypsy settle on the floor of the catio, calm and content, I knew it was time to try letting them be together.
It’s a small step, but a meaningful one. We’ll keep you posted on how they’re getting on.
